Session fees
Therapy is a commitment of your time, resources and energy. It is a tremendous opportunity for improving yourself, your marriage and your family. We seek to provide you with the best care in helping you to become your best self. Our fees are based on clinical expertise, education, and experience as summarized below.

For couples and families José utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT externship trained) and the Gottman method therapy (Gottman levels 1+2 trained) which are the two gold standard counseling modalities for families and couples. To give you the best quality treatment we will be tracking your behavior patterns, emotional bonds, communication skills, vulnerability, and conflict management. Using these research backed modalities, it is highly recommended in the beginning of therapy, to utilize the 75/90 minute sessions. During your consultation, José will make a recommendation based on the presenting issues, and the needs of the family/couple.
Payment and insurance
Most major credit cards, debit cards, and some HSA cards are accepted. I do not work directly with insurance companies. Superbills are provided upon request for you to submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Before scheduling, you may wish to ask your insurer about your out-of-network deductible, reimbursement rate, and any requirements for submitting claims.

Do you accept insurance?
I do not bill insurance directly. Superbills are available upon request for you to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage depends on your plan; please contact your insurer to review your benefits.
Are sliding-scale appointments available?
Limited sliding-scale options are available when payment is a barrier to care. Please inquire during your consultation about current availability.
What payment methods do you accept?
Most major credit cards, debit cards, and some HSA cards are accepted.
Do I have to be Catholic?
No. Clients of all faiths and those with no religious beliefs are welcome. Prayer, Catholic teaching, or spirituality will only be included according to your wishes.
Where do appointments take place?
In-person appointments are offered in Front Royal, Virginia, and virtual appointments are available throughout Virginia. Please ask about office details when scheduling.
Do you work with children?
Individual counseling is for people age 16 and older. Family counseling may include teens or older children; please inquire about the fit for your family.
How long are sessions, and what does premarital counseling cost?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Couples and families can also choose 75- or 90-minute Gottman and EFT sessions; 75- and 90-minute extended intakes are available. Please ask about premarital counseling fees during your consultation.
Good Faith Estimate
If you do not have insurance or are not using insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of your care.
You can ask for a written estimate before scheduling. Keep a copy of the estimate for your records. If a bill is at least $400 more than your estimate, you may be able to dispute it.
